“Just Do It” by Ariel Ehrmantrout
Parasha Re’Eh: See
Haftarah: Isaiah 54:11 – 55:5
Priesthood Instuctions: 1 John & 2 John
Todays Message is: “Just Do It”
This week’s portion is called Re’Eh—which is the Hebrew word meaning to “See.” In this portion we find Moses continuing in his tutelage of the descendents of the original slaves– that have been chosen out of Egypt. The Strong’s dictionary says that the meaning of Re’Eh—is a Hebrew root word meaning to “See—Experience—Prophesying—Appearing—Searching—Looking at one another—vision—viewing instrument—mirror—sharp eyed bird.” Moses is giving the exact same instructions to the children of the original Israelites as He did to their parents—hoping that they would look into—See-Experience—and prophesy the commandments and instructions of God, so that they would be blessed– in the good land where the Lord was leading them.
In this portion Moses lays out for the children of Israel’s new generation where they are to worship—That they are not to worship other Gods or bow down to them in any way—He goes on to tell them what foods to eat and what not to eat—Moses instructs them on how to deal with Tithing—and the canceling of all debts—how to free servants and the redemption of the firstborn of all their animals. He goes on in this portion to lay out for the Children of Israel—what comprised proper worship on the Passover—How to conduct themselves during the feast of Weeks—or Shavuot—and concludes this portion by instructing our ancestors in how to hold the feast of tabernacles—or Succot.
In short, Moses is laying before the people what Gods instructions and righteous requirements were for living a successful life in the Land of Promise that God was taking them in to. I want to share with you about walking in committed sold out love for the Lord– and what your life will look like if you will only follow the ways of the Lord your God that He is requiring of you—and lastly how God is preparing for himself a bride—without spot or wrinkle that will appear with him at His glorious appearing—as His return is ever closer to taking place.
If you have your Bible today—Turn with me to Deuteronomy Chapter 12 beginning in verse 1: “These are the decree’s and laws you must be careful to follow in the land that the Lord the God of your Fathers, has given you to posses—as long as you live in the Land. Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains and on the hill and on every spreading tree where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, and burn their asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places. You must NOT worship the Lord Your God in THEIR way. But you are to seek the place the Lord your God will choose from among all your tribes to put His Name there for His dwelling.”
Today I want to talk to you about what a true life of God looks like– and compare it to a man made concept. Before we leave here today, I want us to full understand what the Lords righteous requirements are for our lives– so that there is no grey area for miscommunication as we continue to grow. Our God is a God of Justice—as well as a God of love and mercy—and He has established certain righteous requirements for us to follow if we are to be successful in receiving the ultimate prize—that is to attain life after the death of our physical bodies.
We hate to be told what to do, and there is a mentality in the United States– that drives us all to be independent– and do things our own way. However– God ways are not like the ways of man—Gods ways are perfect and his standards are Holy—just—and true! The reason that God instructs us in the way He wants us to go—is so that our lives will go well— and not only our lives—but the lives of our children’s children. Every time we make a decision—we are making decisions that not only shape our lives– but these decisions that you are making today– are going to affect your family and your descendants for ages to come.
In this portion—the portion starts out with Moses laying before the Israelites—a blessing and a cursing—a blessing IF they obeyed the Lord their God and followed His commands and decrees—and a certain curse IF THEY DID NOT—follow the commands and decrees that the Lord our God commands us to obey. The first thing I want to share with you today– is that to live a life that is totally on fire for God– we cannot go about doing things in our flesh. In Deuteronomy chapter 12 and verse 8 the scripture says: “We are not to do as we do here today—everyone as he sees fit.” And in chapter 12:32 Moses goes on to state, “See to it that you do all I command you—do not add to it—or subtract from it.”
You see beloved– one the first and greatest characteristics of a life that is totally sold out to God– is that we begin to stop doing things our own way—and we begin to do what God has commanded us to do—without making excuses for not doing it—or adding to it in any way. Your flesh is constantly there to tell you all the reasons that you cannot do the things that God has called you to do. Remember beloved our “flesh” lies in our mind—will—and emotions. The scripture says that our carnal flesh wars against the righteous commandments of God.
This war results in our either crucifying our mind—will and emotions –with the crucifixion nails– of Gods commands and ordinances—or it results in out making mental excuses and coming up with elaborate excuses for why we cannot obey Gods word.
God word in you—is the power of God unto salvation for all who hear it. David said that we are to hide the word of God in our heart so that we might not sin against God. But this goes contrary to what our flesh is battling for. Galatians 5:17 says, ” For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want.”
Our flesh is battling against the Spirit –and the Spirit is battling against our sinful nature. In our flesh we burn to disobey Gods commandments –and do things our own way. That is why we fail so often. We are always striking out in our flesh– and asking God to bless it. I am reminded of the young man who wanted so desperately to get married—which we all know to be a good and holy thing before the Lord—but in his fleshly zeal—he step out and dated a girl who was not a believer—making himself unequally yoked—and the next thing you know—She was pregnant—and the young man was no longer serving God– and there was a child born of the marriage—who grew up without a father-or His fathers God—because the mother ran off with another man—and the cursing just kept passing itself down the generations causing destruction along the way– as it went.
God wants you to be successful—even as He wanted this young man to be successful—but the only way to be successful is by doing exactly what God says. Our Christian bookstores are full of thousand upon thousands of books– that will tell you what it means to have everything from a purpose driven life– to peace—to Godly “Thinness!” All of these things are competing for your mind—will– and emotions. It is all a trap for you to fall into beloved. Gods word is sufficient to meet all the needs in your life– and can answer each and every situation that may come your way while your alive. Our Father Abraham did not have to read a purpose driven life– to conjure up some thing in his flesh –that told him to be about doing what God had told Him to do. No beloved—Abraham was sold out to God—and after trusting that God was– by faith—He began to DO all the things that God commanded him to do. Genesis 26:5 the Torah says of Abraham after he has died –that Isaac his Son –will inherit all the lands God swore to Abraham, “Because Abraham obeyed me, and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws.” So we see clearly– that Isaac received the blessing –for what Abraham had done. Abraham lived a life of faith and it was credited to Him as righteousness, as it tells us in the book of Hebrews—or Messianic Jews—but his faith was coupled with obedience to Gods laws.
Beloved, a life that is totally sold out to God and on fire for Him– is one that is burning to keep his commands. The Torah is Gods instructions for how to please Him. In pleasing God we attain a blessing so great that we cannot contain it. We walk in increased anointing and we speak to mountains to be removed and they are cast into the sea—why—because we have obeyed Gods words to us—just like Father Abraham.
We are to be like Jesus—the author and the finisher of our faith—who said if we loved Him we would keep His commandments—and we are told to take the message of this Gospel—the gospel that says—first come to God by faith—then do all that he has commanded you to do—unto all the world. But we really don’t do that– do we? The reality is that we largely ignore the commands of God in favor of an easier Gospel lie—the lie that says that grace is the replacement of the commands of God. If Malachi 4 states “I AM God and I change not, and the New testament says “Yeshua Messiah the same Yesterday—today—and forever—then why do we go about doing what Jesus would never do?
Beloved– Jesus said take my Yoke upon you for my burden is easy –what burden is He talking about? Obedience to His Torah of course! It is so easy to obey the scriptures if you are dead to your flesh—and alive to the spirit. We have already established– that our flesh is at war in our mind– will –and emotions –with our Spirit—which comes from God. But Gods Torah witnesses to the death of our flesh—causing us to discard the things of the flesh and be alive to the fruits of Gods Spirit –that come from obedience to the Torah.
So many Churches today have bought the lie that says you do not have to adhere to Gods word. Have you ever truly thought about this with a rational mind? If God did not want you to keep his commands—then why would Jesus tell you to do it? Doing it brings the freedom and the blessing—and NOT doing it brings the curse! You cannot do this through legalism—legalism is through your flesh because it is done separate from Gods spirit. But Gods Spirit does not send you mixed messages. The scripture says to Love the Lord your God with all your heart—all your soul and all your strength—and to love you neighbor as yourself. This fulfills the Torah—making it full—not done away with. God is not a man that He should change His mind—and He cannot lie! To Love God—as Jesus has said means to DO WHAT HE SAYS. In this portion we are told to do several things when we enter the land. Beloved the land for us today –is the place of the mind, will and emotions. Your land is either going to be reflective of a life that is on fire—solely committed to Messiah only—or it will be like the land the children of Israel are moving in to occupy—full of its idols and pagan things—things that draw you away from the Torah.
God instructed the children of Israel to pull down—and tear down ALL the places in the Land that were abominable—where the demonic worship took place. A life that is sold out to Yeshua—is a life where you have no places that you leave any asherah poles—or any places of flesh alive to exalt themselves up against Gods word. Sha’ul—the Apostle Paul—states that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal—but they are mighty for the pulling down of strongholds in Messiah Yeshua. We pull down these areas in our mind—will and emotions– by washing them with the water of the word—and renewing our minds. But what word do we use? We are to use the entire word! God does not tell you to forsake His Torah—that would mean that He would be telling you to totally ignore his Righteous instructions—and why would He tell you to do that? It is your flesh that screams against these commandments which Paul says in Romans are “righteous—just and true.”
God laid out a lifestyle that is pleasing to Him. He did not confer with me– or you– before doing it—and He wrote a marriage contract for us to follow and be prepared by. There are three kinds of people that are going to be invited to the wedding. The first kind of person is the bride of Messiah. If Messiah is the Torah—which John 1:1 says He is—then the Bride of Messiah is someone who is applying his Torah to their lives and obeying what it says. The second kind of person at the wedding are the bridesmaids. They are all dressed up—but they have no husband—for they did not keep their wicks trimmed and lamps filled with the oil of the Spirit –by keeping the righteous commands of the Torah—they will get to the feast– but they will not be married—only onlookers while the bride and groom rejoice together as ONE! The last kind of person—is the person who has received the wedding feast invitation—but failed to change their clothes—and enter in according to the invitations instructions. That person does not get to come in to the feast—because they did not come into the Torah at all—and are left outside of the wedding feast hall –where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Beloved those of you in Christianity and from Judah –who
God is calling back to the Torah are the bride of Messiah; you are coupling your faith –with keeping Gods righteous commands and will be the bride that is presented without spot or wrinkle. Those who are the brides’ maids—are the ones who hear the Torah and say—“well that is done away with—we don’t have to do that—because we are under Grace.” They say this because they do not know Gods word. We can all agree that Sha’ul—the Apostle Paul is the preacher to the Gentiles—the apostle called—or sent out to the gentiles’ right? So it serves to reason that if ANYBODY had divine revelation about the Torah and the Testimony—it was Paul—a Pharisee of Pharisee’s– and one who saw the Lord face to face on the road to Damascus right?
Turn with me to Acts Chapter 25. We will see that Paul is at the end of His missionary journeys to the Gentiles—and is now under arrest and making his case before Governor Festus in verse 8: “Then Paul made His defense: I have done nothing wrong against the law of the Jews or against the Temple or against Caesar.” Then in Chapter 28 and verse 17 in Rome—Paul states, “Three days later He called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had assembled he said to them : My Brothers—although I have done nothing against the people—or against the customs of our ancestors—I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.” But isn’t this the apostle to the Gentiles—who states that we are free from the Law? If we are free from All the Torah—then why does he go out of his way before a Governor and a Roman procurator—to state that He has kept—all– the Torah? He does it– because to not keep the Torah is to sin –according to 1 John 3:4!
The Church of Yeshua HaMashiach has been told a lie. The devil has twisted the scriptures and convinced people that they did not have to obey Gods Torah and commands if they we living by grace! God forbid! Living by legalism brings death—and in our flesh we cannot do the Torah—that is how legalism occurs—is someone trying to do these commandments from their flesh—with no Spirit. Grace is not a credit card for worshipping God as we please—God has told us in this portion not to do things as we please—to tear down all idols in the land of our mind will and emotions through the Spirit—and when we fail to measure up to the commandments of God—the Ruach is there with grace to help us try again– by faith– to keep Gods commands. This is what grace means!
In this portion the Torah says not to eat unclean things, but believers all over the world stuff their selves with Pork– and die at a rate three times as high as their Judeans brothers who keep KASHRUT. You’re told to not eat Shrimp—and Crab—for they are sewage systems of the sea—yet people who eat them are getting Alzheimer’s at an alarming rate. Don’t eat blood—or fat—the Torah says—yet we do so –and defile our bodies and develop colon cancer, and arteriosclerosis? Do you know what the Hebrew word for Cancer is translated as? It is translated as bitter root judgments. In other words we make a bitter—or bad judgments—eating blood –and other forbidden foods—taking on the spirit of a brute beasts we are consuming– and live in rebellion to Gods righteous commands—then we show up in the prayer line at Benny Hinn’s Crusade– hoping that we will receive healing– and get to see our grandchildren! Pleading for healing from the very God whose word we have disobeyed to get in that position in the first place—now that is idolatry!
God has a better way beloved, but are you going to lay down the lies– you have been told—are you going to pull down those altars that are idols to FALSE gods, and apply Obedience with the FIRE of the holy Spirit in obeying all Gods commandments by faith! Moses said that He was laying before you a blessing and a curse. If you obey—you will be blessed. But you cannot just obey the ones that YOU want to. You do not need an interpreter—if Gods word says just don’t do it—then don’t do it—if it says don’t eat it—don’t eat it—if it says enjoy it—then by all means enjoy it with all vigor! Break the generational curses that you are putting on your grandchildren by being disobedient to the Torah. Gods word does not conflict itself—it is not schizophrenic—it does not tell you to do one thing today—and change its mind for tomorrow — this would not be justice– to hold one accountable to one standard –and one group of people accountable toward another—as we have already agreed—God Changes not—and they are His righteous commands—Holy and True!
You are here — because God wants you to live by the faith of Yeshua– and keep the Torah by that faith—truly being formed into the Bride of the Messiah—who is the Torah made flesh! Don’t be a bridesmaid—like the first generation of your ancestors who came out of Egypt. It is time for the Church of God– to burn with the passion and zeal that burned in the veins of Paul–and the apostles– to obey Gods Torah—so that at the end of your life– you too can say you kept the Torah—by faith and like Abraham— you were blessed and in health even as your soul prospered!
You are Israel—if you are in covenant with your God through the blood of Yeshua. Here we are Ephraim and Judah—together as a miracle of God. Will we shine forth– as the bright and shinning lamp on a Hill–as we lift up the Torah of God and the Testimony of Yeshua the Messiah for a dying world—or will we be just another generation who will die in their flesh—in the wilderness of our minds—as we make up our own gospel. The original sin was adding to the instructions of God. Adam was told not to eat of the Etz Chayim—tree of life—but He told Eve to not eat—or touch –the tree of life– and Satan tricked her into doing both. Gods instructions are–Do not add to or subtract from His word– so that Torah can make love in you perfected through Messiah Yeshua. For love is the perfecting of Torah to all who believe. Loving God with all our heart and soul and strength—means doing what—He– said in the Torah.
Loving our neighbor more than ourselves—is perfecting our obedient love for God, but esteeming others more than your self. Here you sit—a miracle—Judeans and Ephraimites—Christians and Jews—together as the unified seat of David– with Messiah as our King. Do you love him enough to obey him with a sold out life of obedience to all He has commanded—breaking the curses of the generation on our grandchildren? I don’t know about you—but as for me and my house—we will serve the Lord by obeying what He has commanded us to do!

This Weeks Haftarah: Isaiah 54:11 – 55:5
Today’s Haftarah Message: “Thinking About Thoughts”
Today’s reading Isaiah 55: 8-9 “8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Having just completed my final exams, I was thinking this week about self talk. You know the talk that goes on inside your head. We all experience it. If we are taking an exam, interviewing for that new job, or asking that special someone to marry you, discouragement and doubt sometimes will come and creep into our minds.
What we must remember is that we must not buy into that negative self talk, but replace it with positive self talk. For example:
Instead of thinking – I’ll never pass this exam, it’s too hard.
Think – I am well prepared, and I will shoot for an A on this exam.
Remember the first generation of Israelites that were commanded to go up and take the land. Moses sent spies to view the land; and they returned with a bad report – even after seeing the fruitfulness of the land. The spies’ bad report caused the remaining Israelites to lose heart – except Joshua and Caleb. Only Joshua and Caleb did not have the negative self talk the others had. The result was they were the only ones to go into the land with the second generation.
The negative self talk is the “bad report” of the spies, who gave a bad report. The result of the bad report was that the children of Israel did not have the same thoughts GOD had – that they would take the land – ultimately resulting in death in the wilderness.
If GOD has put it in your heart to become a lawyer, go back to school, get married, or play a sport professionally, then do not allow the negative self talk to stop you from those desires – because GOD is with you.
2 Samuel 7:3 says “Nathan replied to the king, “Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you.””
The question we have to ask ourselves – Is your self talk negative robbing you of the blessings GOD has for you?
