CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS: Much of our battle today is against fear”
Scripture Reading 2 Corinthians 5:3-6
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of Elohim, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Mashiach. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.”
1. Fear is a spirit—that comes from the realm of death—its strongman spirit is “Fear of Death” and most of us live our lives in fear of death. We fear the unknown, loss of our reputation, job loss, health loss, spousal loss, financial loss, loss from liability, loss from nuclear war, loss from hurricanes, basically—we walk in constant fear.
a. Fear is the power of the realm of darkness—When Adam and Chavah sinned—it was Death that brought about the spirit of Fear.
Genesis 3:6-10 says “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD Elohim as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD Elohim among the trees of the garden. But the LORD Elohim called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Romans 5:12 says “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned”
b. Faith is the counter opposite of fear—in fear you have no control-only death has control—in Faith Elohim gives you perfect control
Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”
c. Fear left long enough—is referred to as an imagination—and idol that exalts itself against Elohim
2 Corinthians 10:5 says “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of Elohim, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Mashiach.”
d. Elohim has not given us a Spirit of Fear—it is something that we mix with the holiness of His Name!
2 Timothy 1:7 says “For Elohim did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”
Romans 8:15 says “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
2. Fear only has power when it is backed by the realm of Death
a. Before Messiah, the Realm of Death ruled the Earth
Romans 5:14 “Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.”
Romans 5:17 “For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive Elohim’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Yahushua Mashiach.”
b. Death is the power of Lawlessness
Colossians 1:13 says “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins”
Deuteronomy 30:15-19 says “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your Elohim, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your Elohim will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other Elohims and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
c. By Taking on Flesh, Elohim removed the realm of Death from power
2 Cor 5:21 says “Elohim made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of Elohim”
1 Cor 15:54-55 says of Death “When the perishable has been clothed with the perishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” Where, O death, is your victory?
d. Death prosecuted an innocent man—shedding innocent blood so that we would be free to walk in the Light of Elohim
Matthew 27:4 says “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”
3. Perfect Love—which is the Torah—casts our all fear.
a. Fear is an illusion—you cannot kill something that is already dead
Colossians 2:20 says “Since you died with Mashiach to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules”
Colossians 3:3 says “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Mashiach in Elohim”.
b. Natural Death is our ticket to Gan Eden
Luke 23:43—Yeshua speaking to the thief on the Cross said “Yahushua answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” This comes from the Hebrew word 6508 PARDEC—meaning Joyful Garden!
c. The Torah of Life has freed us from the Law of Death
Romans 8:2 says “because through Mashiach Yahushua the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death”
d. s.a.Tan is Defeated—he is powerless—he has no power any longer—only you can bring about the realm of death back into your life through lawlessness!
Hebrews 2:14 “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.”
E. So what is there to Fear? Remember when Yeshua showed up at the home of the little girl who died upon His arrival. The professional mourners were wailing—people were crying and the scene was one of general chaos. Yeshua said “FEAR NOT—THE LITTLE GIRL IS NOT DEAD AS YOU BELIEVE—BUT SHE IS ASLEEP.” Then the crowd laughed at Him; so he sent them away-and told the girls’ parents to FEAR NOT—ONLY TRUST. Then the Master said “Arise” and the spirit returned to her and she got up and Yeshua instructed them to feed her. WHY? Was it because there is NO DEATH IN HIS PRESENCE? Absent from the body is present with the Lord—how can FEAR BE PRESENT? Only those who don’t believe will fear because they don’t understand that your relatives who pass on before you are “not dead as you suppose—they too are only asleep.” THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS WHEN IT SAYS “DEATH WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY WHERE IS YOUR STING.” Those who die are still present in the Garden of Eden which is still here on earth—but in a real that we cannot see. There is NOTHING to FEAR when we walk in FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE TO THE MESSIAH’S COMMANDMENTS. Even as the little girl was not dead—neither are those who have gone on before us. THUS, if death is not to be feared—then fear is wasted time spent torementing ourselves until such time as we feel worthy to move on.
“CHAZAK CHAZAK V’NIT HAZECK”—BE STRONG, BE STRONG AND LET US BE STRENGTHENED!
Shabbat Shalom and have a great week!
